Back to Moldova’s dance with Russia: in June 2009 Russia’s PM and ex-President Vladimir Putin agreed to provide Moldova with the
US $500 million loan. The request came from Moldova’s former
(communist) president Vladimir Voronin. The details were and still are unclear or un-released as of yet.

Back to the menorah attack, it was led by a heavily bearded Christian Orthodox priest, followed by a 200 strong mob chanting anti-Semitic slogans. They ripped down a publicly displayed metal menorah and replaced it with a cross. What is new? Ultimately, they dumped the menorah upside-down at the base of a statue. While police was present, it did not intervene. The priest shouted that Jews try to “dominate the people” and that “the Jews can try to kill us, to traumatize our children.” This are old charges. How do the few remaining Moldovan Jews manage to do all these was not specified.
